U.S. dollar declining, Questions

Why is it declining, I plan on going traveling this summer and I am afraid my money won't get me where I want it to. Will it be up by the summer? Anyone who travels can give me some idea of what I can expect? Thanks

News channels have been prediction a depression, recession of some sort. They all have different opinions on how severe it will be though. China has been threatening to pull out from under the US Dollar though, which would ruin us. There's a lot more to this than what I'm saying, but if you read up on it all, you'll see what I mean. It's too hard to say what's going to happen, but most agree, something bad/worse than what we're at now, is on the horizon.

I don't understand how they gauge currency value. Why has the dollar dropped? How do you fix it?

you make the value stop going down by not printing as much... US dollar is not backed by anything which encourages our habbit of printing more money when we need it.

Which in the end causes severe inflation. Printing more money eventually makes your dollar worthless and next thing you know a loaf of bread costs $100. What's that called? Hyper-inflation? I learnt something about it in economics.

Could put your money into Canadian Dollars, since their money is worth more than ours.

our current economy grew past our bullion reserves (the gold bars that backed our currency) decades ago. thanks ww2

Yeah, spending $1,200,000,000,000(1.2 Trillion) on the Iraq war hasn't helped it much either.
